Do I need a referral from my physician to receive physical therapy?

While there is direct access to physical therapy in the state of Virginia, most insurance companies will follow the guidelines set forth by Medicare which does require that you come to us with a referral from your physician.

Do you participate with my insurance?

We participate with all of the major insurance carriers that serve our area, and we continually look to participate with those companies that provide coverage for our community. When you call to schedule your appointment, you will be asked about your insurance. The office manager can discuss your physical therapy benefits with you at that time.

How often and how long will I be attending my physical therapy sessions?

During your evaluation, your therapist will discuss with you the plan of care that will best help you achieve your goals for physical therapy. If the referral from your physician specifically requests a frequency and duration, we will follow it or speak with them regarding any changes that need to be made. In a general case, you can expect to be seen 2-3 times per week while you are in rehabilitation. Plan to be in the clinic for 45-60 minutes for each visit.

What should I expect on my first visit?

Your first visit will entail, filling out medical history forms (which you can download from the Forms page of this site) and providing information about your insurance and your needs from physical therapy. A physical therapist will perform an evaluation with you that will provide you with the opportunity to explain your injury or concerns. During the assessment, you will be evaluated on your movement patterns so your therapist may determine the source of your problem. This may include some modest movements and strength resistance which will help us with creating a plan for you. It is highly interactive, and you will have the opportunity to discuss the process along the way.

What should I wear to my physical therapy sessions?

The goal is for you to be comfortable during your treatment sessions. Feel free to wear comfortable clothes that you can move in. Work attire is fine and is easily accommodated for to provided treatment.

What are your hours, and where are you located?

We are conveniently located at 2433 Valley Avenue, Suite 103 in Winchester. Our facility has convenient and ample parking and is handicapped accessible. Our standard hours are from 8 am to 5 pm. If you have circumstances that prevent you from attending during those hours because of your work schedule, please speak with your therapist to see if we can accommodate your individual schedule.
